Online Primary School.
Children aged 5 to 11 learn differently, so Primary is taught differently: short lessons, creative work, time to move, and qualified teachers who know your child by name. It follows the National Curriculum for England, in Key Stages 1 and 2.

How we teach younger children
Lessons are short and varied, with enough structure to build good habits and plenty of room to stay curious.
Short live lessons
In Academy the live lessons are short, and each one is taught by a teacher who knows your child by name.
Creative work and movement
Core subjects share the week with creative work and time to move, which keeps young learners interested.
Breaks and time off the screen
Screen time stays manageable and there are breaks, so learning stays enjoyable and suits the age.
Regular feedback
Lessons are interactive, and regular feedback means you always know how your child’s progressing.
Safe online
Our staff are trained in safeguarding, and a Designated Safeguarding Lead looks after every concern.
A Mentor
Every IWS student receives mentoring that fits their learning model.

The subjects and the curriculum are the same in all three. What changes is how the lessons are given. In Primary, Academy is fifteen live lessons a week: three in each of five subjects.

Every Academy student meets their Mentor, one of their own teachers, for twenty minutes one-to-one every week of term. Even the youngest take part: in Years 3 to 6 they say what they enjoyed and what was hard, and choose between two opportunities offered to them.

What comes after Primary?
Secondary School follows at ages 11 to 14, and the curriculum moves from the National Curriculum for England to the Cambridge International Curriculum.

Is my child too young for online school?
IWS Primary is designed for ages 5 to 11, with short, engaging lessons and plenty of support for young learners.
Which curriculum does Primary follow?
IWS follows the National Curriculum for England in Primary School. From Secondary School, at ages 11 to 14, it follows the Cambridge International Curriculum.
How much screen time is involved?
Lessons are kept age-appropriate and balanced with breaks and offline activities, so screen time stays healthy.
How much do parents need to help?
Younger children may need a little help getting set up. After that, our teachers and the learning platform are designed to help children work independently.
Will my child make friends?
Through Houses, clubs and live lessons, your child connects with classmates from around the world.
Does my child have a Mentor?
Every IWS student receives mentoring that fits their learning model. In Academy, the Mentor is one of your child’s own subject teachers, and they meet for twenty minutes one-to-one every week of term.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Your child receives regular feedback, so you always know how they’re progressing. In Academy that includes full marking and feedback, in Bridge it’s scheduled feedback, and in Foundation it’s assessment suited to the model.
Can my child start part-way through the year?
IWS accepts students during the year as well as at the start of it. The 2026/27 academic year began on 14 September 2026.
